The Physical Education programme at Uplands allows for a breadth of study in a variety of individual and team sports. It has been developed to provide students with many opportunities to participate and enjoy physical activity.
All students within the school receive weekly PE lessons. Within the primary school, students participate in specialist Physical education lessons once a week and have swimming lessons once or twice a week, depending on their year group. In Secondary students rotate through physical activities including swimming on a regular basis. We are committed to ensuring all students develop confidence and competence within the water as well as having key water survival skills.
We are committed to providing a rich and varied PE programme that develops our students love of physical activity as well as promoting the use of our core values of collaboration, balance, inquiry and integrity.
At Uplands we are proud to offer a range of competitive and non-competitive opportunities for our students to find their passions, talents and interests.
The ROAR SPORTS programme offers students the chance to become involved, to learn, develop and enjoy sport. We enter a variety of competitions within Malaysia as well as overseas to enable our students to participate and compete at an appropriate level.
The ROAR SPORTS programme has been developed in line with sports and competitions offered as part of the sporting groups we are actively involved in. There are opportunities for students to represent the school across a variety of year levels teams in a range of sports:
While we allow students of the same year group to train with each other on a weekly basis, most events are organized according to age levels, not year groups in both primary and secondary.
In recent times we have travelled and competed against other international schools in Kuala Lumpur as well as travelling as far as Brunei, Singapore, Bangkok, and Pattaya to compete in a variety of FOBISIA (Federation of British International Schools In Asia) competitions.
Uplands currently offers the following ROAR SPORTS:
We also run an extensive CCA programme that enables students to engage in fun sporting, service, cultural and academic learning activities. These CCAs are a great way for students to try new things or to delve deeper into a passion area.
The extra-curricular programme has been developed in line with sports and competitions offered as part of the two organizations we subscribe to (ISAKL, FOBISSEA). Currently teams represent the school at Under 13, Under 15 and Over 15 age groups in a variety of sports:
Uplands has been actively involved in PSAC, ISAC and FOBISIA events, spanning most of South East Asia. Uplands students have gone on to perform at national and international competitions.
