Principal's Welcome

Excellence in Education

Dear International School of Penang (Uplands) Community,

It is my pleasure to connect with you today as I transition into my new position as the Principal of The International School of Penang (Uplands). I feel a deep sense of honor and excitement to be taking on this position.

The International School of Penang (Uplands) is an institution with deep roots in Malaysia dating all the way back to 1955. Since that time the school has been striving to develop internationally minded students who make a difference in their communities. Uplands has been a key member of the community providing an excellent education for generations of young individuals. As a fully accredited member of the Council of International schools, the International Baccalaureate and a wide range of other international agencies you can be sure the school is engaged with a global community seeking to utilize the best practices in the education world.

One of the key defining characteristics of this community is its warmth and care.

At Uplands we strive to ensure that all of our community members feel welcomed and supported. From the moment you step foot on campus the positive feeling and support is clearly evident. Through our teaching and learning, we seek to help our students discover who they are and can be through an inquiry-based learning environment, extensive extracurricular activities, and meaningful experiential / service learning experiences.

If you are new to Uplands I encourage you to explore our website and familiarize yourself with the school. I also welcome you to our campus to come and see what an Uplands experience is all about. I am sure you will appreciate our outstanding environment, excellent facilities and will enjoy connecting with our world class faculty. It is our hope that you will find the International School of Penang to be a home away from home.

For all current members of the community I look forward to connecting with you and getting to know you. It is my goal as Principal of the school to continue building on the strong foundations that have been developed. As we transition out of this difficult COVID time I look forward to supporting the community as it reconnects and comes together. Our next academic year is filled with promise and potential.

Here is to an outstanding academic year filled with learning, growth and new experiences!
