The Design Technology 7 Ramp Race Challenge finals were recently held at lunchtime under F-Block using a ramp custom-made by our talented DT technician Albert Lau.
Only the students from each DT class who qualified for the distance final competed in this exciting head-to-head knockout event, which finished with two cars battling it out for the top spot. As you can see the winner was thrilled to receive his first-place trophy.
This event was the culmination of a unit in which the students had to: (1) design their cars, (2) plan their manufacturing process, (3) shape and finish the body of the car, and (4) paint and add accessories (possibly 3d printed) to their cars. Throughout this process, the students gained valuable communication, planning and troubleshooting skills. Here is a good example of one student’s work, showing the development of their idea as they worked through the different stages of the project.
Congratulations to Sami and Claire from 7A who came in first and second respectively.
