On the 6 July, the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) released 173,878 candidate results around the world for the Diploma Programme (DP). The International School of Penang (Uplands) had 46 candidates registered in this session with 369 subject entries, and the average points obtained by candidates who passed the Diploma was 36, more than 4 points about the global average this year. This is an outstanding result given the challenges of the past two years. One student, Jacyln, achieved a perfect score of 45, with another thirteen students achieving 40 or more points, which is 30% of the cohort. Moreover, another 14 students achieved 35 or more points, which gives a combined awtotal of 60% of Uplands May 2022 candidates achieving very high results as an international benchmark. Overall, the average grade per subject for Uplands was 5.66 out of a possible 7. All students who sat the Diploma over the last two years should be immensely proud of their efforts. Furthermore, every teacher and all support staff members who have facilitated these results over the course of these students’ educational journey should also feel rightly proud of their commitment and hardwork. The IBO will release further statistical analysis later which will be shared in due course.
